Marian (Ray) Edenfield Summers
Marian (Ray) Edenfield Summers died peacefully at Summer Breeze Senior Living in Savannah, Georgia on Saturday, September 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 29, 1936, in Savannah, Georgia, Marian was the daughter of Frank Ray, Sr. and Maggie Collins Ray. She grew up surrounded by the love of her two older brothers, Frank Ray, Jr. and Joseph “Joe” Ray.
Marian attended Commercial High School, where she met the love of her life, JD Edenfield, Jr. They married at ages 16 and 18 and shared 50 devoted years together. Their marriage was a testament to commitment, partnership, and faith. After JD’s passing, Marian later married Hugh Summers, where they built a life together for 19 years until his passing in 2023.
Marian was the cherished mother of four children: Glenn Edenfield (Jill), Mike Edenfield (Virginia), Cyndi Clements (Michael), and Holli Vigna (Jeff Flach). She was lovingly known as “Grandmommy” to her eight grandchildren: Meghan Edenfield, Raymond Lacross (Kala), Michael “Bubba” Edenfield, Jr., Kaylee Clements (Haydon), Brantley Clements, Lexi Tolbert (Todd), Christopher Vigna III (Marielys), and Abigail Vigna. She was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Jennifer Lacross and Christina Clark. Marian also delighted in her seven great‑grandchildren, each of whom brought her joy and pride.
She was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Temple, having accepted Jesus into her life at 9 years old. Her faith was central to her life, and she was active in the Christian Women’s Club, where she formed lasting friendships and lived out her commitment to ministry, fellowship, and service.
Marian will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and her deep devotion to her Lord and Savior. She also leaves behind a legacy of compassion, kindness and grace.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Jessica Clements, her long time caregiver, whose compassion was a blessing, along with the entire caregiving team.
Visitation will be held at Fox & Weeks, Islands Chapel (Whitemarsh Island) on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A private graveside service for the family will be held on Thursday.
